Expertise
Former banker and investor, expert in financing, investment, risk management and business transfer. Based in the Eastern Townships, Canada.
Background
Jessy is a corporate finance professional known for his business judgment, his negotiating skills and his intimate knowledge of SMEs. With twenty-five years of experience at Desjardins Group in financing, risk management and then investment, he now combines the perspectives of a banker, an investor and an entrepreneur.
Holding an MBA in management from the Université de Sherbrooke, a bachelor of business administration with a concentration in finance from Bishop’s University, and a college diploma (DEC) in marketing, Jessy has built most of his career serving businesses in the Eastern Townships.
At Desjardins Business Estrie, he first spent twelve years as a business development account manager, supporting entrepreneurs, analyzing their needs and structuring their financing. He then led risk management, before heading business development and the sales teams for six years. From 2019 to 2024, as investment director at Desjardins Capital, he analyzed, structured and monitored investments in Québec SMEs, working closely on the purchase, sale and transfer of businesses.
In 2025, he moved to the other side of the table. As a co-shareholder of Lefko produits de plastique in Magog, he led finance and information technology. In parallel, for more than thirty years, he has been a co-owner and shareholder of real estate investment companies, which gives him first-hand experience as an investor and asset manager.
His skills cover the purchase, sale and transfer of businesses, investment and financing, real estate, entrepreneurship, SME governance and sales team management.
Committed to his community, he puts his financial rigor to work for good governance. He chaired the board of the Zec Chapeau de Paille and served as treasurer of École Plein Soleil for ten years. He held the same role at the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de Coaticook and the Chambre de commerce d’Asbestos.
In short, Jessy Melançon brings SMEs and the institutions that finance them a complete view of a company’s life: he has lent, invested, overseen risk and run the finances of a manufacturing business himself. He knows what lenders and investors look for, and how a company can prepare to finance its growth or succeed in its transfer.
